If you are a blog reader, then you must remember that every year I volunteer my time for an amazing cause: infertility Generations of Hope is a fertility assistance fund, and Images of Hope is one of the events that Generations of Hope puts on every year to help raise funds for this cause. 1 in 6 Canadian couples have fertility issues and about 20% of them are not able to afford the costs of fertility treatments. I cannot imagine life without my children, and if you have children, I’m sure you’d agree with me. If it wasn’t for IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) I wouldn’t have been able to have children; thankfully, my husband and I were able to pay for our treatment, but there are many people who would give anything to be able to have a child and their only chance at it is IVF. Which can cost around 15,000 PER ATTEMPT. Pricey huh? Conceiving a child isn’t supposed to cost any money, but sadly, for some people it does, and it costs a lot.
Images of hope is a photographic celebration of IVF where images and stories of IVF conceived children and their families are exhibited. The event will be held on March 11th, 2011 at 7:00 pm at Hotel Arts. To find out more about this wonderful event as well the Generations of Hope fund click here The event is a great night out for anyone, really! You don’t have to be a patient at the Fertility clinic or be involved with it in any way. Anyone wanting to support this great cause is welcome to attend the event!
These are the images that I took for the event this year. 3 of these images will be submitted to the Images of Hope committee and 1 will be chosen to be exhibited the night of the event along with other photographs of many other children. I haven’t quite decided which 3 I’m going to submit, although I have an idea. I defenitely know which one is my fave and that one will definitely get submitted, but I’m still deciding on the other 2 😀
